Podcast editing with – iZotope RX9

iZotope RX is an editing suite for repairing and editing audio.

An improved version of RX’s ‘Dialogue Isolate’ function reduces background noise while maintaining speech.

Ambience Match samples noise in the background to match different cuts of audio, similar to room tone.

Complex mode adds some granularity through three new parameters which control how the output ambient noise will sound.

Another new feature is Dynamic De-hum, an addition to the existing De-hum function on RX. The function removes complex background hum and buzzing.

Avoid podfade

Podfade is the unavoidable outcome of hopping into a podcast if you are unprepared. It happens when a show stops releasing episodes and fades into podcasting ambiguity.

The biggest problem is that people don’t realize how difficult it is to run a podcast. You can easily buy equipment and get your podcast in front of an audience in a short time. But keeping a podcast alive is the part that can be difficult.

Here are a few tips on how to avoid podfade:

  1. Practice before you go live
  2. Create long term content
  3. Record as many podcast episodes as you can ahead
  4. Choose a topic you’re passionate about
  5. Don’t think about making money
  6. Strategically plan your show
  7. Communicate clearly with your audience

Promote with less money – invite guests

Including interesting guests in your show delivers more exciting episodes and adds a distinctive point of view for your listeners.

Create a podcast press kit for guests to share the episode easily.

You can also record a tagline with your guest. These make great teasers without exposing the episode’s content, especially if your guests are well-known to your audience.

How to measure podcast ROI

Measuring the ROI of your podcast depends on what your end goal is. Businesses and brands start podcasts for diverse reasons. And those contrasts affect how they should think about ROI. Here are two main approaches…

  1. Financial ROI
  • ROI from Direct Sales
  • ROI from Ad Revenue

2. Podcast Success:

  • Episode download numbers
  • Email subscribers
  • Sponsorships and Ad revenue
  • Website traffic and conversions
  • Audience feedback through reviews
  • Networking and referrals

There are many ways to define if your podcast is worth producing. ROI is much more than download statistics or ad revenue.
