Use Asana to manage your podcast process

There are so many steps in podcasting that it is best to use a project and task management tool to make sure you complete each step.

Asana is my favorite tool for managing podcasts.

Asana is vital when it comes to episode management. For example, if you release episodes each week, you’ll get into a routine, but with several steps, you create a task for each, so you don’t miss anything. You can track everything from planning each episode to recording, editing, and promotion.

As you develop your podcast, write down each task you need to complete. Not only will it help you as you launch, release episodes, or manage gusts, but it will help a podcast manager if you eventually outsource.

Importance of guest selection

When selecting your guest, you want to look for someone engaging, entertaining, and knowledgeable about the topic you’re pursuing. But, you also should look at how the guest can grow your audience and expand your reach.

Inviting guests with whom you already have an established relationship, your podcast conversations will feel connected and comfortable.

You can also reach out to those dream guests who are experts in what you’re discussing. Finding a healthy combination of experts and everyday people is the best solution.

Here are the main elements of a good podcast intro:

  1. Podcast name
  2. Episode title
  3. Music

Podcast seasons

A podcast season is a way of separating your content into smaller self-contained blocks. For example, each season might focus on a different topic, or you might break it up into batches.

Breaking your show into seasons can be a great way to take some of the pressure off to make sure you’re delivering episodes on time and sounding their best.

Instead of uploading an episode every week, you can release a season of 5, 10, or 20 episodes. Just give your audience as much information as possible, so they know when a new episode doesn’t turn up in their feed, you haven’t disappeared entirely; you’re just on a break.

If you break your show into seasons, you can look at what’s coming up and plan out your episodes according to what’s best for the show and your audience.
